Session 8: The In-life Presentations
This evening, four of the teachers in the PLC gave their presentations in-life. I applaud them for taking the risk to try something really new, and they came through with flying colors. In addition, the content of their presentations, mostly about SL sites, was pedagogically sound and they came up with some great ideas that they can carry to the Teen Grid once we make that leap! After a bit of follow-up next week, they will be adding their presentations to the whiteboard in the theater in the back of the Nauset Building on Lighthouse Learning Island.
Here are some photos from the presentations, and our holiday photo! The avatars presenting are Kimjoy Fizzle, Babette Botha, Dahling Cahling, and Hilda Helgerud. The other members of the PLC included Pia Klaar, Wang Wingtips and Raia Schmooz.

Is there someway that I am missing in order to be notified ahead of time about such meetings on LLI? I, too, want to absorb as much as possible about educational uses of SL. I do receive alerts from DEN and belong to several groups such as k-12 educators and would like more alerts. Thanks. PS--I love what you are doing in RL and SL!
I sent the notice out of the event to the K-12 Educators group several times.
I do not believe in group IM, since I think it is invasive. I assume when educators get a notice of something they are interested in, they write it down.
I cannot wait until SL allows the ability for users to opt out of group IM. It always seems to interrupt a presentation I am giving and is often used for personal conversations by mistake.
I am sorry that you missed the notice that I sent.
