Thomas “Tom” Foley embodies the essence of a pure learner and brings joy to each activity and person he engages with. His school counselor notes that “Tom is possibly the most advanced student I have seen in a thirty plus year career”. Tom is a stellar human being who routinely puts his needs on the back burner while responding to the greater needs of those around him. He is a young person who utilizes wisdom and possesses a kindness beyond his years. “I love learning things, figuring them out, and then applying them in real life”. “I enjoy spaces where I work with others rather than compete against them”. Hard to argue with his counselor’s observations.
The youngest of three children, Tom hails from a loving and supportive family. A school choice student from Osterville, Tom made the conscious decision to travel 30 miles back and forth to Nauset’s campus so that he could engage a larger student body and have the opportunity to sample the many AP courses we offer. As we enter spring 2024 and the conclusion of his career, Tom has set the bar high for fellow classmates. Somehow, he magically embodies calm energy and whirling dervish productivity.
Innovative, adaptable, curious, dedicated, and explorative, Tom has curated a resume that is as rich as it is deep.
Here are a few standout examples:
● Cape & Islands All-Star Swimming and Tennis; Team Captain for both
● Cape Cod Modern House Trust Apprenticeship
● Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor for the Town of Barnstable
● Poet Laureate for Nauset’s New School Groundbreaking Ceremony
Looking ahead, Tom is planning to merge his equal passions for English and Architecture at Brown University this fall. His skills are sublime in both disciplines and it will take a special institution to help him fulfill this goal. Our school community is deeply appreciative of his efforts and we are beyond excited to see where his path leads!
