Orleans Elementary School is a dynamic learning community catering to Kindergarten through 5th-grade students. We welcome 145 students daily to an environment that prioritizes their social, emotional, mental, and physical well-being, ensuring optimal learning conditions. Our school culture is focused on promoting students' self-awareness about their own perspectives and building respect for others' viewpoints. Our expert teachers develop equitable, deeper learning opportunities that put students at the center of their learning and integrate them with authentic, real-world experiences to teach and reinforce character, citizenship, collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking.
Orleans Elementary School is known for its exceptional educational programming. The school comprises 11 general education classrooms catering to Kindergarten to grade 5 students. The class size in each classroom is limited to a maximum of 20 students. Additionally, the school has three special education teachers who provide personalized instruction to students both inside and outside the classrooms. A fourth special education teacher is dedicated to teaching students with intensive special needs in a separate classroom.
Teachers collaborate in Collaborative Data Teams to analyze the academic performance of all student groups, develop literacy intervention plans, and monitor progress throughout the academic year. Our Intervention Specialists offer supplementary academic support to students to improve their mastery of grade-level content.
The School Psychologist and a full-time Adjustment Counselor work together to deliver classroom lessons that aim to nurture positive social skills, reinforce pro-social behavior, and create awareness about anti-bullying. Additionally, the classroom teachers conduct Second Step Lessons to incorporate social-emotional learning into their teaching, which in turn promotes self-regulation, safety, and support throughout the school, thereby enhancing overall success.
Throughout the school year, specialists in art, library, Spanish, music, STEM, and computer science conduct project-based learning opportunities for students of all grades. Additionally, numerous community programs support learning both in and out of school.
The members of Orleans Elementary School are committed to promoting health and wellness among students. To achieve this, the school serves healthy and delicious lunches that follow Federal Guidelines. The lunch offerings also include fresh garden vegetables grown by the school. Additionally, students receive Physical Education classes twice a week to encourage an active and healthy lifestyle.
