Hello

Sheltered English Immersion

Nauset Public Schools offers the Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) program to support students who are learning English. The SEI program is designed to help students achieve proficiency and literacy in English while also succeeding in their grade-level content.

In the SEI program, nearly all instruction is in English, with lessons tailored to meet the needs of English learners (ELs). Teachers may occasionally use a student’s native language when necessary, but the primary focus is on English. The program continues until students can fully engage in and achieve success in English-language classrooms.

SEI classrooms integrate English learners with their peers and are led by teachers who are trained to make grade-level content accessible while also focusing on developing students' English language skills. Additionally, English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction is provided to ensure that students receive targeted language development alongside their content learning.

The SEI program emphasizes collaboration between content and language educators to create a cohesive learning environment, ensuring that all students receive the support they need to succeed academically.
