Parents’ Right to Translation Services

At Nauset Public Schools, we are committed to ensuring that all parents and guardians have equal access to important information regarding their child’s education. If English is not your preferred language, you have the right to receive translation and interpretation services, which are provided at no cost to you.

Why You Have the Right to Translation
The right to translation services is protected by federal and state laws, including Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination based on national origin. This means that school districts are required to provide meaningful access to educational programs and activities, including communication in a language parents understand. We believe that all families deserve to fully participate in their child’s education, regardless of the language they speak at home.

How to Request Translation Services
If you need information translated or require an interpreter for meetings or school events, you can request translation services by:

  • Contacting your child’s school office

  • Speaking with your child’s teacher or school counselor

  • Sending a written request via email or school communication platforms

When making a request, please indicate your preferred language. Once the request is received, we will arrange for translation or interpretation services as soon as possible.

What Translation Services Include

  • Written Translations: Important documents such as report cards, progress reports, and notices can be translated into your preferred language.

  • Interpretation Services: In-person or phone interpretation can be provided for parent-teacher conferences, meetings with school staff, or other school events.

We encourage all families to take advantage of these services to ensure clear and accurate communication with our schools. Your involvement in your child's education is crucial, and language should never be a barrier to your full participation.
